SmartBank appoints Chief Financial Officer

PIGEON FORGE, TN (September 18, 2008) – SmartBank President and Chief Executive Officer, Billy Carroll, announced that its Board of Directors appointed Heather Hubbard Morgan to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “Heather has been instrumental in SmartBank’s success during our first 18 months,” stated Carroll. “She is extremely talented and we are excited to have her as part of our executive management team.”
Heather joined SmartBank in September 2007 as Vice President and Controller. Heather will oversee SmartBank’s Financial Department including shareholder relations, financial planning and policies. Her duties will also include supervising the Bank’s Branch Operations, Compliance and IT Departments. Heather has a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Texas where she is also licensed as a Certified Public Accountant. She also graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2004.
Before joining SmartBank, Heather was previously with Miller & Martin, PLLC, as an attorney where she was instrumental in starting six state-chartered banks in Tennessee, including SmartBank. Heather also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in both its Austin, TX, and New York City offices. At PricewaterhouseCoopers, Heather provided tax services for companies and partnerships of all sizes and equity compensation services for multi-national corporations.
Heather is married to Ned Morgan, a Knoxville native, also an attorney and currently in the MBA program at the University of Tennessee.
